The 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards aired earlier today and BTS came it on top. The South Korean group have claimed the most trophies at the annual ceremony, winning all four awards for which they were nominated.
The septet ended up taking home Best Group, Best Pop, Biggest Fans and Best K-Pop. They have claimed both Best Group and Biggest Fans in the past. In a previous year, they took home the Best Korean Act prize, which has been changed and is now similar to Best K-Pop.
BTS was up against big artists the music world for their wins like the Jonas Brothers, Little Mix and Silk Sonic (Best Group), Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and Justin Bieber (Best Pop), Blackpink, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande (Biggest Fans) and Monsta X, NCT 127 and both Lisa and Rosé of the band Blackpink (Best K-Pop). This brings their total to 14 EMAs since 2015.
The only other artist to score more than one award was Ed Sheeran, who snagged Best Artist and Best Song (for “Bad Habits”) after opening up the show. Other major winners include Lil Nas X for Best Video (for “Montero [Call Me By Your Name]”), Doja Cat and SZA for Best Collaboration (for “Kiss Me More”), and Saweetie for Best New Artist.
