Matt Reeves’ The Batman is compiling a star studded cast before its projected 2021 release date.
Joining Robert Pattinson, who will play the titular role of Bruce Wayne, and Jeffrey Wright’s Commissioner Gordon are Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano.
“Big Little Lies” star Zoe Kravitz has been tapped to play Catwoman, the antiheroine and sometime love interest of Bruce Wayne. In recent weeks, the role came down to Kravitz, Zazie Beetz of “Atlanta,” Deadpool 2 and Joker, Baby Driver’s Eiza Gonzalez and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander. Ultimately, Kravitz won out, despite some worry about scheduling issues with Fantastic Beasts.
Reports also state that Paul Dano is in talks to join the cast, possibly as The Riddler. Dano’s casting comes on the heels of Jonah Hill turning down an offer to join the cast. Given how long negotiations went on between the studio and Hill’s team, insiders believe WB already had an offer ready to go out to Dano once Hill passed on the role.
Pre-production on the Warner Bros.-DC Comics pic is expected to start this summer. No official start date has been set, its rumored that filming could start in late 2019 or early 2020. The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters June 25, 2021.
