SMTown’s new super group, SuperM has finally debuted!

The 7 member group composed of members from various SMTown kpop groups is touted as the avengers of kpop and they come pretty close. With Shinee’s Taemin, EXO’s Kai and Baekhyun, NCT127’s Taeyong and Mark and Wavy’s Lucas and Ten the group seems to have all their bases covered.

SuperM held its premiere event at Capitol Records in downtown LA where they answered questions sent from the fans. During the 45 minute event, they discussed how they felt about working with each other, learnings about this new group, what members where most surprising and their excitement for their upcoming tour.

Mere minutes after the event, the MV for the lead off single, “Joppin” was released and it pulled all the stops. Some of the best aspects of the video where when they showcased the dancing and vocal abilities of the senior members, Taemin, Kai and Baekhyun. We also get treated to the rapping abilities from Mark, Lucas and Taeyoung while giving an overall vibe of kpop superheroes.

“Jopping” is a perfect lead off Single because it has an uptempo best that makes you want to dance while chanting the hook along with them “put your hands in the air were goin’ make it bounce/ cause when we jumping and popping we Jopping.”

The album itself is a mix of fast upbeat songs that try their best to showcase each members individually. Songs like “Jopping,” “I Can’t Stand the Rain” and “2 Fast ” lean heavily on the vocals of Teamin and Baekhyun while “Super Car” leans more towards the rappers Lucas, Mark and Taeyong. The album finishes off with “No Manners,” the one song in the 7 track mini album (two are instrumentals) that gives a nice blend of both vocals and rapers giving off a chill vibe as the members blend effortlessly between styles.

SuperM has more events planned to keep promoting their debut, hitting the TV circuit on Ellen and kicking off tickets sales to their world Saturday, October 5th before doing their first live performance at Capitol Records that night.
