Alternative pop trio SHAED are reaching new music heights with their dreamy newest EP titled “Melt”. Best known for their addictive intricate soundscapes and powerhouse vocals, their latest project showcases an unexpected side of the DC based band their listeners have yet to experience. We had the opportunity to have a chat with the multi-talented trio about the recording sessions of “Melt”, fellow artists that motivates them and touring.
SR: What is your story?
SHAED: We’re Chelsea, Max, and Spencer. We’re best friends and write and record music in our little brick house in the DC suburbs.
SR: How would you describe your music style?
SHAED: Indie Pop with strong female vocals
SR: What song from the Melt EP is your favorite? and why?
SHAED: “Melt” is my personal favorite because it speaks so much about my past experience as an artist. It talks about the struggles I faced working with the ‘major’ side of the industry, and how I was able to free myself with the help of the twins.
SR: What inspired the songs from the Melt EP? What were the recording sessions like?
SHAED: We moved in to a small house together last September. Living together was a big change for us, and it forced us to really get to know one another on an even deeper level. We started writing every day and recording tons of songs. The recording sessions were super laid back for the most part. We record everything in one big living room, without any fancy studio gear, or soundproofed rooms.
SR: What do you want your listeners to take with them after listening to the Melt EP?
SHAED: Hope you enjoyed the journey we tried to create for you.
SR: What current artists are motivating you?
SHAED: We’re currently listening to Tyler the Creator, Teyana Taylor, and Summer Walker
SR: What are the most challenging things about being an artist/band?
SHAED: Trying to figure out what to wear before a show!
SR: Do you have any pre-show rituals before performing a live set?
SHAED: Jumping Jacks, Dancing, Hugs.
SR: What advice would you give anyone who aspires to be an artist?
SHAED: Go for it. Make the music you want and don’t be afraid of what people think.
SR: What is next for you?
SHAED: We’re touring 🙂 Check out our website shaedband.com for dates
