Sophie Turner reprises her role as Jean Grey in the first trailer for the next X-Men sequel directed by Simon Kinberg.

We last saw Jean Grey unleash her powers in X-Men: Apocalypse and this time around it looks like there will be no stopping her. Staying true to the Dark Phoenix storyline form the comics, we see the X-Men head to space to save stranded astronauts when a cosmic force bombards the X-Jet and gets absorbed into Jean. The incident leaves her infinitely more powerful, but also dangerously unstable. With her telekinetic and telepathic abilities out of control and hurting those around her, the X-Men must try to save Jean from herself, but also keep the world-domineering aliens drawn to her power at bay.

The trailer gives ya a first look at Jessica Chastain’s mystery villain, a shapeshifting alien who manipulates Jean and the Phoenix. We e also see Jennifer Lawrence returning to her role as Mystique (prior to turning villain) and a young Xavier played by James MacAvoy.

Take a look at the new trailer and poster below as we wait for the Phoenix to rise on February 14, 2019.

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
