20th Century Fox has released the first trailer and new stills for THE HATE U GIVE.

The first trailer is powerful in telling the events that lead to the uncalled for killing of a 17 year old teen. The problem, the office was white as the teen was unarmed, his only crime as being black. Amanda Steinberg delivers a strong performance as Starr who is caught in between two worlds. Her home turf where she can be one version of herself and her school where she is “the white version” of herself.

Start has to decide if she is strong enough to speak for her friend and for truth or if she is too scared to fight for what is right.

Directed by George Tillman, Jr. and based on the New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas, the film stars Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, KJ Apa, Algee Smith, Lamar Johnson, Issa Rae, Sabrina Carpenter, with Common and Anthony Mackie.
