Welcome to the newest artist spotlight! On this edition we are featuring Indie Rock band, HYDROCELE, who have been injecting their pop infused rock sound to the music scene all over the UK. We had a fun chat with the genre blending rockers about their influences, the inspiration behind their music and what the future awaits.

SR: What is your story?
HYDROCELE: We all crossed paths whilst playing in different bands and working in
different studios. We soon realized we all had similar ambitions and tastes in music. After a few jam sessions it clicked. We wrote some tunes and put on our first gig.

SR: How would you describe your music?
HYDROCELE: The band is our creative pot; whatever goes in comes out.

SR: What artists have been your biggest influence or inspiration?
HYDROCELE: The biggest influences on our sound are The Smiths, Nothing But
Thieves, The Strokes, The Big Moon and The Cure.

SR: What inspired your single,”What You Looking At?” What was the recording session like?
HYDROCELE: “What You Looking At?” all started when Freddie and a mate just started jamming over that repetitive drone guitar riff. It’s a hard hitting song and to get across the power vocally it’s direct and references a previous relationship. The recording process was such a laugh alongside producer, Pete Dowsett. It was a solid week of Fifa, the local Wetherspoons and countless trips to Wembley drum centre.

SR: What do you want your listeners to take with them after listening to your music?
HYDROCELE: The energy and the buzz we get when performing them or an emotional
connection with the songs. Adding a song to their playlist or if it makes them want to see us live, even better!

SR: What advice would you give to anyone who aspires to be an artist?
HYDROCELE: Some strong words of advice we stand by as a band is “Act local. Stay local.” If you don’t do that, you’re on the right tracks!

SR: What can we expect next from you?
HYDROCELE: Upcoming from Hydrocele are two dates at the O2 Academy2 Islington and
Oxford supporting OMYO. Just expect more tunes, more vids and more live shows!

Since we last spoke, HYDROCELE has released a new song titled “Broken Truth and Honesty
