Alternative Pop duo, Grace Blue, are bringing their soul baring storytelling and intriguing soundscapes to the music scene. The LA based duo released their latest single, “Nowhere To Go?” with accompanying vivid music video. I had the pleasure to chat with Grace Blue about their artistic journey and why it’s important to them to have their listeners feel less alone when hearing their music.

SR: What is your story?
GB: We’re an alternative-pop music duo based in Los Angeles, California, consisting of vocalist Grace Mogz (Chen Mogsamov) and keyboard player Joseph Arazi. We originally met at our hometown Tel-Aviv, Israel and had moved to
Los Angeles May 2017 in order to pursue our passion and hunger for music. Our debut music video for  the single “Our Eyes” was released June 4th and had reached over 110,000 YouTube views.

SR: How would you describe your music?
GB: I feel like it’s a combination of dark emotionally driven trip hop, alongside catchy, up-tempo alternative-pop.

SR: What artists have been your biggest influence or inspiration?
GB: We’ve always listened to everything from Eminem to Korn, I was especially influenced by rock and alternative trip-hop music growing

SR: What inspired your single,”Nowhere  To Go “? What was the recording session like? What was filming of the music video like?
GB: The song was written about being stuck in an unhealthy situation in your life, in a relationship that isn’t good for you, whether it’s a romantic one, a family one or even with a friend or a job, because you don’t feel like you have a better option. We wanted to let the viewers have their own interpretation of most of the story. The video has a story where you see a very sick father-daughter relationship where the girl is longing for attention and love that she later understands that she’ll never get from her father. It represents how we all tend to try to fix relationships that cannot be fixed and let them damage us and trap us in the fantasy of what it should or could be and not believe we deserve better.

The filming of the video was very intense, we had a great crew, luckily, that found awesome solutions to a lot of unexpected issues that popped up during the shooting days. It was very stressful but we managed to get the best out of everything.

SR: What do you want your listeners to take with them after listening to your music?
: Hopefully they will feel more understood and less alone, the lyrics I write always talk about things that have a very deep meaning for me. They’re very dark and personal.

SR: What advice would you give to anyone who aspires to be an artist?
GB: That’s actually a great question!  But i think you’ll have to ask me that in about 5 years since i feel like we’re still trying to figure things out ourselves.

SR: What can we expect next from you?
GB: New music, a lot of LA shows and another music video soon!
