The 90th Academy Awards took place last night at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and the Star studded event did not hold back in discussing the topics of inclusion, diversity and equality.

Taking momentum from the Time’s Up and Me Too movements many presenters and winners used their platform to address the inequality in not only Hollywood but everywhere in the workplace and used their voices to ask for action.

The award ceremony contained light hearted moments with host Jimmy Kimmel addressing envelope gate during his opening monologue and at one point surprising an audience of theater viewers with a surprise appearance by Gal Gadot, Ansel Elgort, Emily Blunt, Arnie Hammer, Mark Hamilton and Guillermo Del Toro.

The winner of the night was diversity as Guillermo Del Toro and Jordan Peele won some of the major awards. The Shape of Water walked away with 3 statuettes including Best Director and Best Picture. Pixar’s Coco won Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.
