Welcome to my newest music feature, New Artist Spotlight! There are always a few new artists that I steal my attention with their rare songwriting and intricate soundscapes and what better way to introduce them to you, my readers, than by learning a bit about their unique artistic journey.

LA based Singer-Songwriter/Producer, Simone is an up and coming artist who brings her irresistible pop music to the music industry. Her music oozes refreshing positivity in her lyrics laced with complex song productions deserving of multiple repeat listens. We had a quick chat with the talented artist a couple of weeks ago where we got to know more about her story.

Q: Who is Simone? How would you describe your music?
A: My love for songwriting started early on in my life and I’ve always used it as an outlet of expression, writing songs on the piano when I was younger and now writing in many different ways. My love of music production came later on for me and my artist project is a compilation of the two. Songwriting about my experiences since moving to Los Angeles, and track production to capture the sound energy that I think best portrays my current environment.

From studying music in college and getting my degree in vocal performance, I’ve had to study many different types of music and composition as well. I think that has helped me explore songwriting in a way that keeps my ideas moving and never stuck in one box. I love elements of surprise in music, especially ones that are done in a way that anybody can get behind them. When I’m writing, I hope to be able to shake things up but but stay true to the music I love. It’s pop all the way but I like to think it’s clever pop.

Q: Who are your musical influences?
A: Kimbra, Ellie Goulding, Odesza, and currently Tove Stryke

Q: What do you want your listeners to take with them after listening to your music?
A: I want to make music that evokes a sense that life is bigger than we think. We are a part of this picture and I hope to draw listeners into a soundscape that captures different aspects of that.

Q: What projects are you currently working on?
A:
Currently recording new material for an upcoming EP, rehearsing for a music festival in LA September 9th called Mainfest and collaborating with other artists tracks as a feature artist.
