The Golden Globes celebrated a night full of stars and with La La Land making history in sweeping their 7 nominations it was only fitting the show kicked off in an ode to the film that showcased the city of dreamers.

There where plenty of surprises from Isabelle Hubbert winning Best Actress (Drama) over Jackie actress Natalie Portman to Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nocturnal Animals) beating the heavily favored Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) for Best Supporting Actor.

Meryl Streep delivered an incredibly memorable speech during a show full of passionate and timely words. And so it was fitting that Moonlight — one of the year’s most timely, of-the-moment films — took home Best Picture (Drama), setting up a sure-to-be showdown between it and La La Land at the Oscars.
