The British band is back with a new song!

Even though it’s not a lead single for a new studio album (we wish!), the news come as a nice surprise for fans of Keane. The band has been on hiatus since the release of The Best of Keane in 2013, a hits compilation that featured two new songs. And without any news regarding when we can expect them to be back in full force, this is the second best thing that could happen.

Band member Tim Rice-Oxley announced via a blog post on their official website the release of Tear Up This Town on September 25th. The song is the product of a two-year collaboration between the band and Antonio Bayona, director of A Monster Calls and the band’s Disconnected music video. The post goes into a bit of detail about the process of creating the single and reveals that they recorded it in the studio back in January.

A Monster Calls tells the story of Conor, a 12-year-old that in the middle of dealing with his mother’s terminal desease finds himself hanging out with a massive, living tree, which claims that it came to Conor only because he called for him. The movie, based on the novel of the same name by Patrick Ness is a beautiful tale of courage, loss, and faith.

The film was originally slated for an October release but was recently pushed back to December 23, 2016, presumably to land it in the middle of awards season and increase its awards potential.

Keane’s Tear Up This Town hits iTunes on September 25.
