Fans are still mourning the unexpected death of Laurel lance on Arrow and it is with good reason. True, “Olicity” is a factor of why fans tune in. They want the happily ever after but at what cost? Are the writers really using Laurel’s death as a way to draw Oliver and Felicity back together?

Each female lead has been through something tragic throughout the show’s 3 seasons, but so far they have had the opportunity to recover and return full force. Sarah died and was resurrected with the Lazarus pit. Same for Thea. Felicity was paralyzed and able to walk again thanks to palmer technology. Why is Laurel not being given the same shot? She suffered from the presumed death of her boyfriend and sister (Oliver and Sarah). The death of her friend Collin. the death of her sister, Sarah and now as she is finding her feet and her purpose as the Black Canary she is being struck down.

Granted, the writers are known for the shocking twists and turns but being as Katie Cassidy has given interviews stating she’s ok with how her character is being written off and that she looks forward existing in the DC universe through other story-lines we still hold out hope for one of those twists. Fans still don’t know what she told Oliver before she died so hopefully that will be revealed in the newest episode.

This episode, titled “Canary Cry” we see the ripple effect Laurel’s death has on Team Green Arrow. Diggle blames himself for not listening to Oliver’s warning regarding his brother while Oliver carries his own guilt over the way their relationship ended (it can;t be easy to hear the woman you cheated on say you were the love of her life before dying). Thea and Felicity mourn the loss of their friend while Detective lance must deal with the loss of yet another daughter.

Let’s hope we get some answers but for now check out photos and previews from the newest episode titled “Canary Cry” where we say goodbye to a feirce warrior through flashbacks and her funeral. Arrow airs on The CW Wednesday niht at 8PM.

“Canary Cry” – OLIVER, LANCE AND TEAM DEAL WITH LAUREL’S DEATH – Oliver (Stephen Amell) and the team struggle to come to terms with Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) death, especially Diggle (David Ramsey) who is overwhelmed with guilt for choosing to believe Andy (guest star Eugene Byrd) had changed. Meanwhile, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) refuses to believe his daughter is really gone and asks Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law) to help bring her back. A recent Black Canary sighting in Star City only seems to prove his theory that Laurel isn’t actually dead.
