Lionsgate’s The Age of Adaline starring Blake Lively, harrison Ford and Micheil Huisman is out on DVD and Blu-Ray this upcoming Tuesday and we were lucky enough to receive an advance copy from the studio to review the Bonus features for you prior to release.

If you’ve seen the film, you know how visually stunning it is from the costumes to the cinematography. Weaving a tale that spans various decades through time and explaining how Adaline’s immortality came to be. The bonus features do a wonderful job of detailing every aspect of the making of the film and including some surprises that were ot obious until pointed out.

A Love Story for the Ages
Director crated a mood reel to give producers an idea of how the film would be shot. “Sepia tones” anamorphic shoots were used to capture movement, along with warmer tones & vignette edges
The film focuses on magical realism.
VoiceOver is an impotent element because it gives details and anecdotes about Adaline’s world.  Serves as a guide to the eras.
Costumes and typefaces on prints material are period accurate
Adaline’s apartment design differs to Ellis’ flat design
Discusses creating looks from different eras and infusing them into a contemporary look for Adeline
Gucci loaded archive vintage wardrobe from the 20s and 30s and designed the film’s wedding dress for Blake.

Style throughout the ages
Describes award winning costume designer Angus Strathie’s strategy to remain period accurate
Bright colors and patterns to show youth
Somber and tamer colors when she needed to be unnoticed
Hair and makeup
Production design
Cinematography – mostly done with pulley work. Hardly and hand held

Discovering Young Harrison Ford (Anthony Ingrubber)
Surprisingly enough the actor who portrayed young Harrison Ford was discovered via YouTube. He is hands down a welcome surprise with he way he captured Harrison’s mannerisms and facial expressions to a T. So much so that he was thought to be CGI.

Deleted Scenes
Not too many deleted scenes and they don’t necessarily add to the plot, rather explain some minor questions.

The Age Of Adaline [Blu-ray + Digital HD] is available for purchase September 8.
