In the latest musical directors chair for Universal’s The Huntsman, the studio has hired Cedric Nicolas-Troyan to direct after the departure of Frank Darabont last week.

The film has been in the works for a while as it hit bumps when Universal decided not to continue with Rupert Sanders after his scandalous affair with former Snow White star, Kristen Stewart (who is not set to return). Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron will both reprise their roles.

Nicolas-Troyan worked on Snow White and The Huntsman as the second unit director and visual effects supervisor and was also the the second unit director on Disney’s Maleficent.

Meanwhile, Emily Blunt is in talks for a role as a villain in the new film, which is now focusing on the Huntsman and Ravenna’s lives before the arrival of Snow White. The sequel sends the Huntsman on a quest to find the magic mirror (which has been stolen), forcing him to face not only his past but the evil Snow Queen.
